DELTA-DC® 4001 is cost-effective wetting and dispersing additive to improve pigment wetting and stabilize the pigment dispersion. It is a controlled flocculating agent and is therefore preferably used in primers and undercoats.
Composition :Alkyl hydroxyl ammonium salt of unsaturated fatty acids
Specific gravity @ 20°C :ca. 0.94 g/cm3
Flashpoint :28 °C
Appearance :Clear, yellowish liquid
Amine value :43-49 mg KOH/g
Acid value :37-43 mg KOH/g
Active ingredients :30%
Applications and usage:
DELTA-DC® 4001 helps to prevent interfacial tension between hydrophilic pigments/extenders and binders.
DELTA-DC® 4001 is preferably used in primers and undercoats. If gloss requirements are not too high, it can also be used in topcoats.
DELTA-DC® 4001 creates thixotropy and therefore prevents flooding and floating, settling of the pigments and reduces sagging.
The resulting thixotropy from DELTA-DC® 4001 is much less pronounced than with DELTA-DC® 4044 or DELTA-DC® 4054.
The additive can be used to gel organophilic Bentonites and to produce pastes with improved flow, processability and storage stability.
DELTA-DC® 4001 is mainly used in anti-corrosion and marine paints based on alkyds, chlorinated rubber, and bituminous derivates. It is suited for all kinds of oil- or alkyd based coatings, wash or shop primers and waterborne systems.
DELTA-DC® 4001 should be added prior to pigment grinding.
0.5-2.0% (delivery form) on inorganic pigments
30.0-50.0% (delivery form) on the Bentonites
Safety and Handling:
DELTA-DC® 4001 should be handled in accordance with good industrial practice. Detailed information can be found in the Safety Data Sheet.
DELTA-DC® 4001 should be stored in a cool dry place. When kept in an original unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The production date is indicated on the container.
55 kg and 190 kg non-returnable metallic containers.
